As I see it, people turning to AI for companionship and relationships is not the problem, but a symptom of the problem. There is a profoundly troubling and pervasive lack of empathy, compassion and understanding in modern society. I personally have my theories and thoughts about where the problem is, but it is undeniable that because of certain pressures and expectations, people lack the ability to both connect to others and empathize with different points of views or life experiences.
