My step dad is disabled and says ai helps him tons to make art, and I'm disabled too (with physical ailments) and I can draw with practice, honestly I'd be less against AI in the context of the art not being stolen??! Like I'd totally send my art to help build a machine if I were *asked* (and paid decent royalties) bc if the artist is paid & consents who cares? The issue is more that they're not... (my step dad likely wont stop using ai, but apparently the model he uses is made with images that have no copyrights, which sounds possible seeing as theres a *lot* of images online without copyrights)
