Frank Herbert, the author of Dune, bans AI. Star Wars has them kind of enslaved, as does Battlestar Galactica to devastating affect. Same with Terminator. Ian M, Banks, with his Culture series of books has "Minds" that do not harm biologicals and choose a different path entirely.
