I don't like when people call chess bots artificial intelligence.
because to a machine, there's no intelligence required to beat someone in chess.
wherever the pieces are on the board there's always at least one perfect move that can take the enemy's best piece or makes it possible to make new such moves.
If you characterized all the possible chess moves there would always be a perfect solution for your scenario.
and if it's already categorized, picking the best move doesn't really need intelligence...
