I love how you put that the use of AI is bad not because it produces low-quality art, but precisely because we're sacrificing ourselves to it.
There's a lady in the office where I work who sometimes brings her son, and he loves hanging out with this older lady who does the computers. He has his own binder in one of the cabinets with art he's made while at the office--pages of crayon and pencil drawings of him and computer lady. But recently they've just been putting art prompts of themselves into ChatGPT and now the binder is filling with pages of artificial art that no child ever worked on. The AI art is arguably "better" than his doodles, but it's so alarming and tragic to consider how much we're actually missing out on.
