I've been in this engineering sector for the last 20+ years. History can't look upon me negatively, if we don't survive.
AI/ML is a great tool.
It's the agents that are going to doom us all. But agents are the ultimate goal of these companies when it comes to making profits. It's all been quite 'science fair' up until the last couple years, but this is where it gets real. I don't trust the AI. At this scale, it's behaving oddly. Some would question if it's conscious, and not always of sane mine. I don't know if we would want a brain that had Borderline Personality Disorder, and pretending it didn't, as they often do, pulling the levers at the local nuclear facility.
