The only thing that kept previous extreme forms of power from staying absolute was a lack of utter and total surveillance. If King Louis the 14th had had the apparatus to keep every one of his peasants monitored, the monarchy would've lived on forever. If the fascists that ran my country in WW2 had had access to it, they could've ruled forever.
It simply came around during a time where power is no longer inherited by "divine blood" or being "from the correct volk", it's not inherited by bank account numbers.
And yes i am fully aware of the irony of typing this out on youtube, a platform owned by google, a subsidiary of alphabet, one of the MOTHERS of all surveillance capitalism.
