amazing how quickly something can just vanish because a tech bro somewhere deigned it be so was doing freelance basic graphics (logos, icons, that sort of thing) for people on Artists & Clients for years, usually about 1 - 2 jobs per month. was hardly a big payday, just an extra $30 or so here or there; but i'm poor enough that it mattered then it just stopped. not a single contact from a client. of course, no specific message or anything that my work had been replaced by LLMs... but it was pretty obvious. most of the commissions i worked on were for PDFs that eventually were posted to RPGDrivethru - and that place now it just loaded top to bottom with AI slop i can't but wonder who any of this benefits. like, yes, you got to slop together a PDF to publish without paying me... a PDF that now sits in a deeply over-saturated market of completely identical looking PDFs. so how are those sales, then? was it really worth it to stop paying for art if the end result is you can't make a sale? i imagine it's the same story for the blogging business. sure, you've now got all of that output... but so does everyone else. you've sacrificed quality of writing for volume in a space where everyone can now also compete via volume
