I don't think Mr Hassabis is so naïve as to think that infinite energy will lead to peace on Earth. I believed that when I was a teenager... Now that I have understood how the political and influential cliques behave themselves, not so much... They *thrive* on inequalities, they *want* the things the others don't have or *can't* have... And they'll stop at nothing to make sure they're always different and feel always superior to their fellow humans.
The problem is not resources or energy, it's political will to change things!
Having a functioning AI or not is not the issue here, it's the people in place that will refuse any change if it ever even slightly threatens their dominance.
