When that happens... The "economy", which was built to keep you struggling while they reaped the rewards, is no longer needed. Once the oligarchs have their Mega-Mansions with underground bunkers, private yacht quay, private airport, nuclear power plants and an automated factory that can produce anything they need at the order of their CAD program, all patrolled by drones and security robots, who needs an "economy" any more. So you are now completely superfluous in the world. In fact, you are causing even more ecological damage by burning things for heat (you won't have electricity), fouling rivers (since you have no water) and driving species to extinction (since there is no food). Now, this will lead to a period where you will fight amongst yourselves for resources, but after that, they know you will start eyeing them. But they have the technology jump on you. They will not consider it murder. Just a solution to the problems of overpopulation, global warming, utilization of resources (which is theirs, BTW). Because YOU are the virus that threatens to destroy the whole world. Eliminating you will save Mother Earth for them. If you were an oligarch, wouldn't you sign up for this plan? Of course you would, because they have no morals or empathy. This is how the Oligarchy thinks.
