About the millions of views... how many of them actually know about generative AI, what it is, what it does, how it works? I think majority of the world(I'm not talking about just the western world) still don't know much, if anything, about AI. Some probably haven't even heard the term as it's used currently. Take a facebook mom or dad for example, many of them still don't know anything about AI and find the pictures that pop up in their feed good just as any one would like something they think is good or beautiful. AI art, at least on the surface level, certainly fulfills that criteria. Currently, after all its advancements, it looks good enough. Now another question. It's about those who are more or less knowledgeable about AI, including the prompters themselves. Imagine them stumbling upon a beautiful piece of art they think is human mad. What would be their reaction? And when it comes out it's actually an AI generated stuff, would their attitude towards the art change? The millions of generated slop flooding every corner of the internet, how much do they hold the attention of the viewers who know about AI? As far as I've seen everyone, including prompters, tend to lose interest in a piece pretty quickly if they're aware of it being AI generated. At least way faster than they'd lose interest in even the most boringly bad piece of content a human has produced on their own. Another question, Those who know about AI art, how many of them are willing to pay for one? I mean pay a price comparable to a human made art of the same perceived quality, if they're willing to pay at all? Are prompters willing? Probably not, especially when they can generate the same thing with a few prompts. Though an artist would still usually pay for an art from another artist even if they can make a piece of identical quality themselves. AI generated content sure gets views, but it pretty much annoys everyone who knows about AI. No one's actually interested it. Because no one actually values the generated content, not even the prompters themselves. Except for maybe facebook grandmas who don't know anything about AI and get scammed into trusting their lord and savior Shrimp Jesus.
