I think there's a tendency, especially in the AI world, to think of the mind as some separate entity that you can put in a box on a server and have it work like a normal mind. I think having a brain learn inside a body, with senses and experiences, is so much more important to development than people think about, and I think this is part of where a lot of the misalignment problem comes from. To understand the world as we do you have to have scraped your knee at the park, or eaten ice cream, or taken a shower. All of those things affect us and aren't conveyed in text at all.
