One of the most interesting things is Musk has a real world understanding of WHAT AI learns . The biggest problem with self driving is the system learns from the driver . In America most people , including those that scream JUST OBEY THE LAW , do not have any respect for law or even human life while in control of an automobile
. Because of this AI can not learn to operate a vehicle with respect for law or human life .
Ironically there is a fix for this . Since the car can read speed limit signs there could be an Automatic Speed control feature that won't allow the car to exceed the speed limit . This means Tesla can give drivers using this technology all the data needed to fight a wrongful ( fake or fraudulent) speeding ticket . They can easily set it up so this can only be activated or deactivated while in park . Since people using this feature are also the most likely Tesla drivers to drive with respect for law and life , then they're also the best drivers to teach the system how to drive correctly, legally and with respect for human life . Because in the future AI is going to treat humans how humans treat each other but it's gonna be better and smarter at wielding the worst of us .
