I am not a fan of AI art either but I think a lot of your counterpoints are undercooked at best and disingenuous at worst.
For instance, you said it's cheaper to get art by making it yourself. No, if you're not an artist, that's simply not true. If I need a bunch of assets for a project, and don't want it to look like it was drawn by a 5-year-old, then my only option is to outsource it or develop the skill. If I don't have time or talent to develop the skill, then it's really just left to be outsourced. In many cases, hiring a single artist to draw one complete image costs more than an entire year subscription to something like midjourney that can generate potentially thousands of useful assets.
Most of these AI assets projects look like absolute dogshit, ofcourse, but clearly they're made by people who have very little vision and weren't going to be successful anyway - so imagine how much money they would've wasted hiring artists only to still not succeed.
I've gone down the route of using AI as reference images for my pixel art (to get character poses pretty much) and found it was very useful
