If we take the avoidance of social unrest, low cost and climate change considerations as basics that political leaders would obviously consider when implementing ai. Most logical integration of ai for me would be as regulated work assistants. The hardware would be low consumption specialized model specific chips that would be changed at reasonable intervals regarding model development. I think this paradigm of locked ai race will change when governments start seriously thinking about large adoption of ai. One other thing that bothers me is this fascinating notion of agi ... I think it really hinders the fact that ai can already be much more competent than a worker in multiple working fields coding for example where you have ais that can make in seconds what devs make in weeks. If you look at it this way: there's a large ecosystem of developers from who's advancement tweaks and creations ais are trained and got competent. If you wipe that out in a short time it would have a freezing effect of ai competency in the field furthermore would society in general really consider offloading wide human expertise to largely automated companies ... Sounds really far fetched. I think it's a sort of simplistic capitalist syllogism hanging on something that doesn't exist.
