Artists need to get over it frankly. Sorry not sorry at all. Use the new tools coming out to explore ideas and make things faster. Did you only ever care about being special that you could do this thing that others couldn't? Or did you want to bring what you could imagine into the world to share with others as an experience. I am going to bet you most would say the latter, even if they say it begrudgingly. The new AI tools isn't just generating from scratch, that is the shallow side of things. Just like other image editing tools today, new functions will be unlocked radically. Are you complaining that image editors pre-AI could change thw lighting of your images freely? No, it was useful. AI is the next stage, now you can make what you have in your head FAR faster, and iterate it until it is exactly how you want it. Build experiences, bring the world to life like you always did, but now you could literally build worlds, shows, games soon, etc. I always wished artists could influence the world more than they do, but art took too much time. Now you can bring your imaginations to life easier. If you only really cared about the process of making art, you can still do that anyways if it makes you feel better, like a form of meditation. That can never go away. If you ever feel like thinking of something beyond a few static images made over weeks or months, you have better options now.
