CGP Grey a decade ago delivered an incredibly persuasive counter argument about why the "no jobs for horses" analogy simply will not hold true for AI. The TL;DR is that the scope and scale of jobs that can be obsoleted by AI dwarf by multiple orders of magnitude the jobs that were obsoleted by previous technological advancements (eg cars, industrial farming equipment).
You cannot simply say "when this happened before, it was fine," because what is happening now only *rhymes* with what happened before, it doesn't mirror it. Our societal context is completely, inalienably different from what came before.
