Human history started with the invention of symbolic thinking and language. That was the most substantial technology we ever created and this is still what defines us as humans. After that we invented also some extraordinary technologies (fire, wheel, writing, press and many more!). I think A.I., or personally I prefer the therm "cybernetic vision", is a technology that is transforming us at the same degree as language did. It will (actually is already doing) redefines the human condition. If some people are not willing to adapt and remain humans, they will be treated like how we now treat animals by the new emerging cybernetic species.
