Not only would a lot of people lose their jobs, it would be inevitable that laziness, mentally and in menial labor jobs, would be abundant among humans, in which we would require more AI machines and the vicious cycle continues... When AI gets big enough it will essentially become it's own species, so unless meticulous and careful programming and progress is done, it is indeed unethical to not look into what effects it could have in the further future.
