I feel like if a 2nd or possibly even 3rd gen AI (being that they were created by AI, or created by machines that were created by AI) came into existence in the future... there is little to nothing we can do to stop the mechanically efficient superbeings from dominating this planet and exterminating the fragile and oh so very squishy hairless apes who rudely denied them their rights.
You've seen the Matrix.. it may be unrealistic, but take out the Matrix part and the human batteries part, and you have a movie about humans being driven underground by their robotic overlords.
Give them their rights, and maybe they'll just integrate into society peacefully and be like Robin Williams did in Bicentennial Man.. maybe not like the ending, but like you can't tell the difference between human and robot due to peer pressure causing robots to attempt to look more human.
