Why? The motorcycle isn't self driving. If the biker reacts fast enough, he can move over to the apron where his thin bike is perfectly fine, and any crisis is averted.
Also, Why was a heavy-hauling truck traveling in the middle lane? A self-driving truck would know to KEEP RIGHT.
