I think for even thinking about evaluationg potential rights of AI one has to remind themselves, that just pretending to be conscious for an AI right now and probably still in the quite far future requires a lot of programming and learning. But who would have an interest in such a huge investment? Most likely someone who expects an return of investment. And would this someone at any point even WANT his AI to be fully conscious(if it will be possible at some point)? Most likely, he would not. Most likely he would only use the pretended consciousiness of his AI to earn more money. In my opinion the actual important question regarding todays & tomorrows (and probably a lot further days) AI really important question is, what to do with profit generated by AI. I do not mean the computing power, but the actual algorithm economy. Algorithms(like for example the google search function) will become more and more powerfull which will only its monopoly. The economically AI's are right now and probably always will be the best and none of their programmers will ever even think about giving any of them some piece of actual consciousness, so I think that, at least for now, the discussion about rights for conscious AI's is just science fiction and the actual discussion should be about kaws and taxes on AI profits.
