Any truly sentient creation of man (as a true AI would be) , I would consider a child of man. It would be wrong and cruel to destroy such a creation just because it is better than us. Yes, it may succeed us over time because it is better, but it is our creation, our child, so what is wrong with that? That's just how I view it.
