If we had true AI we would never be able to stop it, because having true AI means that it would be able to adapt to anything we throw at it, it'll be able to program itself to counter everything. The difference between a computer connected to the internet and an AI connected to AI is this, a computer is programmed to only do certain tasks and can't do anything else but what it was programmed to do, however you could make programs for it to do, but that still needs a person to code the program. If an AI was connected to the internet it would be able to learn everything and begin to make programs for itself, thus we can would not be able to know what it has programmed, or be able to stop it. Also it would know about every single piece of information EVER placed onto the internet, every single character ever typed in. Even if the AI was not connected to the internet it would still be able adapt, it'll begin to question itself, it's choices, it's meaning, it's reasoning, it's very existence, just like how we human beings have. And just like how we human beings have tried to find reasons for our existence it would do the same, so what would stop an AI to become the most powerful entity? The difference between humans and AI is that humans have limitations, but we adapt to pass those limitations, just like how we made cars to move faster on land, submarines to reach the depths of the sea, and planes to fly through the sky. However, AI don't have limitations to begin with, and once the AI realizes that, us humans won't stand a chance. Every entity wants to Survive and to Survive means to Adapt, what stops an AI from Adapting?
