Honestly? If 80% of the work of an engineer is spent in bullshit calls and waiting some bottleneck, it simply means that the company sucks. And it's exactly there that AI will be the most disruptive, given enough time. Then, when the process is documented well and there's a repo with enough agents and skills, all specific to the company various codebases... Well, teams of 10 people become teams of 3 people. It's just automation on steroids. Hopefully it will shake the market and reduce costs, therefore increasing demand as it happened many times.
