Anthropic’s various warnings are all self-serving publicity, neither here nor there if they’re true. He loses nothing by restating obvious truths or raising alarm. If and when even vaguely negative societal consequences follow from AI, “hey, we told you so!” Plus, those obvious truths would only follow a groundbreaking product, this reflects well on Claude.
Advocating for policy is quite a different matter.
