TBH, I've been driving for 30 years and I didn't know you weren't supposed to drive in front of a stopped school bus until this news story came out.
EDIT: For those who didn't read the article... The waymo passed *in front of* the bus from a perpendicular intersection. It didn't overtake the bus, as "passed" in the title might imply. It literally wasn't trained to stop for buses on side streets because nobody does that. I just went through driver's ed with my teen and they weren't taught to stop in that situation, either.
