Do you remember years ago, a report came out that said SpongeBob affected children's attention span? It was because of the speed of the changing scenes. Now look at what kids are doing on technology today, tiktok is a bite sized video content platform where people slide the the next bite sized video content. Binging this content is effectively doing the same thing SpongeBob did to kids attention spans. Reports come out now that kids under teenager age are negatively affected by the use of smart tech and social media this is due to various factors from cyberbullying, comparing to others living fake lives to their reality. Which makes it not a S.M.A.R.T. goal or perspective because it is not always attainable. Be it a certain look, or a very niche trend. Add in push notifications/notifications on phones as another layer of distraction from school work and everyday life. Plus schools trying to make everything digital and remote. The school doesn't have the amount of oversight needed to regulate the content they have on school computers/iPads . Be it a loophole, or a using a tool to get to their distractions. Add in A.I. tools being used in some schools, might as well say what's the point of school then if these kids are using A.I. as critical thinking for the board of education and school staff is also needed. First question: What is the purpose of students and why are they in school? A: to learn. If they have A.I. tools giving them answers, they aren't learning which means the school system is failing the students. If students expect answers just like that, this also cuts down on their patience, it also cuts down their tolerance to actually do work which means a grind to actually do the work. Ever work hard on something and felt satisfied afterwords? You look at the work you put in and say, I did that. It is a confidence booster and shows the *progress* the school needs to see in their students academic progress reports. A.I. should not be in schools, nor should tech.
