Oh, there's no chance it doesn't end up going that way. Might take a while, but corporate drive for infinite scaling profitability will ensure it.
It'll probably happen the same way Uber dominated the market, costs so low they lose money for years while gaining market dominance, then frog in the boiling pot the prices until the AI companies are milking every possible drop.
