You can't imagine a better world if AI goes well? That's actually kind of sad. There are billions of people in the world living in poverty, billions who are affected or will be affected by disease, and we all suffer from evolutionary artifacts that make our lives miserable in the modern world. Advanced medicine doesn't just mean you live longer, it means that your quality of life is immeasurably improved. Physical/psychological problems can be eliminated. People's emotional baselines could just be set way higher by default. Anxiety, depression, violent tendencies, propensity to addiction, lack of executive function, etc. could all just be gone. You could become smarter, more agentic, more conscious. Your irrational feeling of needing to be powerful or in control could be gone. Feelings of personal inadequacy could be gone. People could become more grateful (e.g. towards the amazing quality of life created by modern technology). People could live in the bodies that they want. Travel becomes safer and easier. Connecting with people becomes easier and more meaningful. You'll be able to interact with virtual worlds where you can do literally anything you imagine. If you still want to feel powerful you can literally become king of the world and Superman at the same time in the matrix. You know it's fake but you only get the positive side of that and not the negative because of the superdrugs that have changed the way your brain works. Etc. etc.
