Right now, yes, but I’m not sure about 10 years from now. It has already replaced many junior positions and reduced the number of junior software engineers because companies no longer need to hire as many. One senior software engineer plus ChatGPT can now do the same work that one senior engineer with a couple of junior engineers used to do. As a result, even senior and mid-level software engineers are being affected in terms of how easily they can get jobs and the salaries they can command.
