AI hasn't monumentally improved. It has barely improved if improved at all I would say if we talk about coding. The tooling has grown, yes, that gives the illusion that AI is so much better, but the core - not so much. It's just marketing. I believe LLMs have already peaked. I use AI as a software developer since chatgpt launched and don't really see any huge improvements in the last few years besides tooling. I only get a feeling that I waste more time with AI now than a few years ago and am getting more frustrated with it. Also might be that all these tools are limited in their capacity, even high end models, because they are super unprofitable. AI shill companies need to get people dependent on them so eventually they can rise prices so high, that if they did that now, the hype would die down and everyone would have a more realistic outlook on things. There's a reason they are burning through the money, but the money stacks behind them are huge
