I thought the same as I opened the app today. But honestly try it out more and stop crying. It's genuinely pretty good so far. I have been using custom instructions ever since they made them available and gpt 5 follows them the same if not better. I was also scared to lose the "personality" but from the few chats I had with it today, I think it's great. Chats were both introspective(felt less sycophantic, more informal exactly how I would like it) and one was a continuation of creating a semi automated budgeting sheet - tbf the initial prompt I gave it was more detailed then when I did with o3, but the results are amazing so far.
