Upvoting and agreeing. Not a lawyer, but in liability risk management and work with lawyers from about 15 large national & regional firms all day every day.
AI is at minimum 5 years away from having a meaningful enough impact on their jobs to even reduce work by 10%. At best, it's currently being used as a glorified search engine to research things slightly faster. Minimal gains for anybody with moderate familiarity with technology.
If you're good at prompting it can very slightly improve your ability to format things. You absolutely cannot trust it and still need to do heavy proofing.
A new example of lawyers being reprimanded for AI use pops up ever couple months. Examples:

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/may/31/utah-lawyer-chatgpt-ai-court-brief
https://apnews.com/article/lawyers-judge-ai-prison-alabama-c6a64736cb488cf6379624403d3757ca
Anybody that's interacted with judges knows this is exactly the type of thing that would piss them off so hard it would be catastrophic. Nobody I know in the field has any trust for AI in its current state. It just doesn't help that much.
If anything, I think law is more immune AI improvements than the vast majority of other fields. "The computer said so" just doesn't fucking fly in this world.
