Tickets are on a spectrum from clear to ambiguous.
Clear tickets for which there is an obvious fix, can probably be automated by AI.
For ambiguous tasks for which there is no clear solution, I’m not sure AI would work. As a senior engineer, most of my work is too ambiguous for AI.
So maybe we would need fewer engineers in the future, but I don’t think software engineers are going to go extinct as a profession
