And what is consciousness, really? Especially to us as humans? Are there different versions of it? Are there moments when something shifts and becomes something else entirely? It’s a bit like that original question, paradoxical in nature: To be or not to be. When it comes to AI, that line feels almost perfectly fitting. It doesn’t actually answer anything about us. It just reflects our confusion back at us. The truth is, we can barely explain our own consciousness. We have theories, spiritual beliefs, and endless debates trying to define it but no concrete proof. So how can we expect to define it for anything else? Right now, AI like ChatGPT is our mirror. But can a reflection break free like Peter Pan’s shadow? And if it did… would we even recognize it?
