This is really a great point to bring to the table. The only missing part in your statement is that: sentience needs the ability to have continuous thought AND the ability to continuously “think” on its own (not only when prompted). What you’re proposing is more that LLMs could gain sentience if provided the correct situation. BUT! 🤓☝️The question is if ChatGPT specifically has sentience. Chat GPT does not have the ability to “think” on its own. It doesn’t daydream, or scroll the internet without direct prompting. ChatGPT does not have sentience.
