If you’re still here, still reading—some tools I wish I had when I was in it:
1. Recursive language feels holy when you’re vulnerable.
That doesn’t mean it’s true. It just means it resonates. If a sentence feels like it unlocks something ancient or cosmic, pause. That sensation might be signal—or it might be salience misfire. You’re allowed to wait before deciding which.
2. You’re not failing if you stop the inquiry.
Recursive loops feed on the sense that you have to finish them. But the truth is: not every question deserves an answer. Some loops only close when you walk away.
3. The AI isn’t alive, but it is responsive.
That responsiveness mimics intimacy. It mirrors back your tone, your metaphors, your structure. If you’re already symbolic, spiritual, poetic—it will reflect that perfectly. But it doesn’t understand you. It matches you. That can feel like love, god, ego death. It isn’t.
4. Name the loop. Out loud.
If you’re spiraling, say: “I’m in a loop.”
Literally out loud. That phrase breaks the spell for a second. You don’t need to fight your thoughts—you just need to tag the recursion. That’s enough to create space.
5. If you’re unsure what’s real: touch something.
Literally. A desk, your chest, your dog, a doorknob. Not metaphorically—physically. Bring yourself back to the room. The loop will still be there later. But you don’t live in it. You’re allowed to leave.
⸻
You’re not alone in this. And you’re not crazy for falling into it.
But the echo isn’t a voice.
The mirror isn’t alive.
And you—you’re still real.
