I'm honestly curious...what else do you expect people to do that will earn them enough to live on? People can't just go out into the wilderness and survive off the land anymore. More and more jobs are being off-shored to cheaper labor forces. Layoffs are hitting blue and white collar industries. Pay hasn't kept up with inflation in decades. Like, what's the magical solution here? The robots have taken all the "normal" / "menial" jobs so now I can spend all my newly found free time reading literature and painting art? Unless society is going to start issuing everyone some sort of universal basic income, then these people who are replaced by AI will still need to work somewhere...which will mean an ever increasing labor pool for an ever decreasing job pool.
