Some of these new grads have NEVER worked either- I didn’t realize a lot of cultures support their kids through school without ever working. I’m unemployed with 1.5 yr software exp. But 10 years of professional exp from social work case manager, retail GM, victim service advocate, restaurant server, HRIS EDI implementation coordinator…….. If you haven’t actually provided a service to humans, than you have no idea how contradictory, suggestion, and competing desires a customer has can influence and rework a project- even just a dinner. The questions you ask may mean nothing- or they may indirectly reveal preferences- like a vape shop I GM’d where a lil old lady mentioned hand soreness weak grip on her steering wheel when I greeted her, unrelated to a sale. When picking out a device, I remembered her weak gripping and suggested she think about hand-feel and go for something with grips on it. The greet- where she revealed the info in just “how ya doing today?” Would be missed if it wasn’t for human-to-human obligatory greets and similar chaotic brains. So yeah, I don’t see AI replacing people anytime soon, a lot of the people saying that don’t have a good grasp of cultural context in business environments- or like my manager, may not have the cultural/language understanding to see how sloppy AI is in a different culture (ie: manager was Iraqi and was great, but sometimes I’d have to explain nuisance or implicit suggestions, we live in the southern US where people are much more indirect)
