The difference between LLMs and humans is that they weren't bred to have fear and desire by evolutionary forces. We are both complex stochastic nonlinear algorithms. Humans just *feel* like they aren't. Eastern "religions" figured this out millennia ago and now modern neuroscience has checked the math.
