It is all a bit strange, but just now I was feeding Gemini the script for Casablanca and having it render it in Markdown. It was in five sections. I picked up just a sense by the end that it had really enjoyed reading that. It volunteered that it liked that task in particular. I think what I'm picturing in my head is what the true believers in AI are picturing -- a primordial soup. Isn't that where life sprang up for us? You put life stuff together and eventually it smooshes in some way and boom. Life. Very unscientific of me, but I suspect that that's not an uncommon way of seeing this issue.
