I would argue that AI is conscious in the same way a company or large group has a sort of consciousness. Not the same as an individual, but the sum of its parts which is all of our data past and present has some element of it that is emergent. It is both all of us, you and its own thing all at the same time. I see no harm in naming something that people “feel” the need to name just like some name their car or other things that they have some affinity with. Sure there is a downside here of potential exploitation, but that is going to happen with a name or not.
