The only thing that really had been pushing technological progress throughout the human history was a insatiable desire to have an upper hand against rivals. Those who developed and adopted new technology faster out competed those who were stuck in their old ways. You may think today that a ban or restrictions on the use of AI to protect jobs is a morally right thing, but countries that will continue to develop AI and integrate it into their society, will win the technological race, and ultimately dictate and shape the future for all of us.
