There’s a valuable distinction in any political discourse, left wing this, right wing that— anyone with a head on their shoulders understands the internal distinction between Republicans, and /the Republican voter base/. People on both sides of the aisle, even in your country between Torys and Labour, have been under-educated in school, misinformed by news and politicians, and lack a proper understanding of the ramifications of policy. It’s my opinion that people on the left (where I prefer to camp) are typically over-idealistic, and don’t appreciate how difficult it can be to enforce the laws that are passed in a true equitable fashion. People on the right tend to be under-idealistic. Which is worse? Under-idealism is defeatist, insufferable, and it speaks to giving in to apathy, rather than offering empathy. So it’s not a pissing match, so much as people with liberal beliefs being dumbfounded as to why conservatives have to be a sullen sack of bricks that America drags around. Conservatives *do* have to check the splendiferous whimsy of overly idealistic liberal policies, but the conservative “politicians” (almost all of them become lobbyists, almost all of them have their vote bought through campaign donations) in our country are the lowest, most backstabbing, sociopathic, and selfish types of businesspeople and they are no longer worthy of a platform. However there are plenty of conservative voters who, if given a better option, could be persuaded to vote in their interests, rather than in the interests of the Waltons. I wish more people looked at it this way. I just wanted to rant at someone so thanks for reading
