Knowing that could happen I made sure to get off-campus housing for my masters. Good luck! As for the ChatGPT, if we take this for another spin, remember that plagiarism is **not** unlawful. It’s unethical. And, because we are an ethics-centric academic society, it creates the issues we are facing today. I still go back to teaching how to use it instead out outlawing it. I teach students why Wikipedia is one of the best resources out there. However, we study it from secondary and tertiary source perspectives just like any other encyclopedia. First lesson in research methods was how to find primary sources using an encyclopedia. I also had students submit topics of further study for one course and had ChatGPT devise outlines for each. We then compared to see how it did. The students found this interesting and learned more in that lesson than if I had simply fed it to them. Teach the tool, not fear. The tool wins every time.
