It depends what you think a CEO's value to the organization is. Let's set aside for a second the question of CEO compensation (most are _way_ overpaid, for the record) and focus on "can an AI do the job?" If a CEO's main job is to review data and make decisions based on that data, it's feasible that AI could replace that work in the near future. But the value the organization gets from a CEO is only a small portion their decision-making. A great deal of the value is the CEO's network -- who the CEO knows, their ability to convince investors to invest and buyers to buy, their ability to effectively recruit executive management levels. An AI might be able to augment this sort of work, but I can't imagine any board deciding they'd forego the value of the CEO's network/relationships in favor of an AI at anytime in the foreseeable future.
