If you are thinking "students don't need to learn to write essays about a novel in English class any more, because AI can do it for them" - then perhaps you've missed the point. The novel and the essay were never important in the first place.
Writing essays for school was never meant to be a directly job related skill. The essay writing is just a way to demonstrate ability to understand, analyse, and communicate. And I'm sure these are still important skills even with AI.
