I think it’s important to understand that even credible neuroscientists doubt that consciousness is explainable in terms of neural networks alone. There’s pretty good reason to believe that information is encoded directly into the electric fields produced by neural activity, which in turn loop back and modulate neural activity. So it’s quite possible that current gen AI misses half of what actually makes a consciousness.
