Pretty sure it already exists. Although I suspect you mean widely rolled out, and I agree with you: it's only a matter of time now. Thanks to California basically forcing fast food places to automate people out of the process, the \*big\* expense of testing and perfecting the process will be done there. The incremental costs of rolling out the system once it's ready, while not exactly low, will be low enough to make it viable everywhere else.
